M.A.D.D.I.E Scholarship Recipient 2025: Elijah Strait

Last night we knew it was going to be hard, because of how much Elijah means to us.
Some of our LLM board members had the honor of presenting our scholarship, in honor of Maddie, at the Laurens Academy senior awards night. This is our second year presenting this scholarship and we were honored to recognize our third recipient. This award isn’t just about academics- it’s about living with purpose, loving others well, and being a light for Christ in everyday moments.
This year’s recipient, Elijah Strait, has quietly and intentionally made an impact. From praying with strangers on the street, heartfelt conversations in the parking lots, volunteering with our foundation, to secretly spending encouraging Bible verses and handwritten notes to Kinsley-he has lived out what it means to reflect God’s love.
Elijah once shared with us:
”I realized I had something that could be healed, but she (Kinsley) was dealing with something that would never heal.. so I just prayed for her.”
That’s the kind of heart he has. One that sees others and responds with compassion. I could give countless examples but Elijah is deserving of so much.
Elijah, thank you for being a bold light, for reminding us to trust God, and for loving like Jesus.
